Backing up your Gmail -
1) Check for excess stuff. how many GB’s are you using? They give 7.5 free. You can clean up your box using:

2) Backup your email online: CHEAP WAY http://backupify.com/ $5 bucks a month to back up A LOT of your online presence… not just gmail but facebook, twiiter, flickr, and more
3) Backup your gmail online: FREE WAY http://hotmail.com Set up a hotmail account of your chossing. It comes with all of the WINDOWS LIVE amenities so its nots too shabby. One you have an “@live.com” or “@hotmail.com” address then go to this address:

Enter your gmail credentials and your new hotmail or live credentials and they will immediately start copying over all of your gmail account to their account. You can still use your gmail account after they are done AND the Windows Live account is pretty sweet so you might even use that a time or two.
4) Download Gmail to your computer. This isn’t so hard, but its def the hardest option. It involves 3 main steps:
a) in your gmail setting, you have to allow pop access, and tell it to always leave a copy on gmail
b) Download and install Thunderbird.

c. Set up thunderbird to access your gmail account via POP mail. Tell it to leave mail on server. Google has some good directions here:

Be sure to use POP settings NOT IMAP!!
Remember: backup is only sexy to randy and dom, but you gotta do it!
